Meet Adam
With a family background rooted in the trades industry, I grew up surrounded by skilled contractors and gained firsthand experience in painting and construction throughout my whole life, but more recently over summer work terms. By my first summer of university, while searching for jobs and running various side ventures such as barbering, I noticed a troubling trend in the trades industry—many contractors lacked clear communication, transparency, and integrity. I’d seen homeowners taken advantage of by unprofessional practices, which inspired me to start Degree Painting.
From a young age, I dreamed of building my own business, and Degree Painting embodies this vision. With Pierce's partnership and support, we brought our dream to life, aspiring to be one of the most dependable painting companies in the Lower Mainland. We stand out not only through our commitment to exceptional customer service but also in how we prioritize and support our team.
Looking back, every business pursuit and side venture has been a stepping stone toward my goal of entrepreneurship. Now, as a commerce student at the University of Victoria, I’m driven to grow as a young entrepreneur and elevate Degree Painting to set new standards in the industry.
Meet Pierce
What started as a summer job offer from Adam quickly became something much more. I decided to take a leap of faith, driven by my lifelong dream of owning a business, and Degree Painting was born.
My background includes years of hands-on experience in the trades and valuable time spent in customer-facing roles such as at Lululemon, where I learned the importance of a customer-first approach, team-building, and creating a welcoming culture. This foundation shaped Degree Painting’s core values and mission: to deliver a transparent, customer-centred experience that sets new standards in the painting industry.
At Degree Painting, we don’t just provide a service; we educate our clients. By openly explaining the entire process—from surface preparation to paint application—in our detailed estimates, we create accountability within the industry. This transparency reduces unexpected surprises, builds trust, and fosters confidence with our clients, addressing common concerns in an industry often seen as unclear.
Alongside my entrepreneurial journey, I’m studying neuroscience at Simon Fraser University. This field deepens my understanding of how hands-on work such as painting or construction, can actually enhance cognitive and intellectual abilities such as problem-solving and spatial reasoning by activating certain neural pathways. I’m passionate about merging this knowledge with my commitment to exceptional customer service, continually growing as a young entrepreneur while building Degree Painting into a trusted name across the Lower Mainland.
